Requirements to use union talent in commercials can more than double a client’s production budget, making it difficult for agencies to retain business at a time when advertisers are under pressure to cut fees and create more digital content, according to agency executives.
“[T]he notion that the union’s agreement is doubling costs for producers is nonsense,” said Lori Hunt, National Director of Commercials at SAG-AFTRA.
